How can I effectively reduce dandruff while keeping my hair healthy and strong?

I’ve been dealing with persistent dandruff for months, and normal shampoos only seem to provide temporary relief. I’m looking for ways to improve scalp health, nourish my hair, and reduce flaking without making my hair dry or brittle. Some people suggest using scalp serums or hair oils as part of the routine. Has anyone tried combining treatments, and did it make a noticeable difference? Any advice or personal experiences would be appreciated!

I struggled with this for a while too. What helped me most was focusing on my scalp rather than just the hair. Using a medicated anti-dandruff shampoo every week or two made a big difference, and then I use with a really moisturising conditioner on my hair so it doesn’t get dry. I’d also be careful with heavy oils and butters directly on your scalp if you’re dealing with flakes, because they can trap build-up. Light oils or a scalp serum tend to work better.

For me the combo of an occasional medicated shampoo, keeping my hair moisturised and my scalp clean helped reduce the flakes a lot. I would say if it's been going on for months and your quite concerned, it might be worth checking it out with a dermatologist.
