What is the difference between knotless braids and box braids?

I’m new to braids and thinking of trying them out. I'm trying to decide between knotless braids and traditional box braids, but I’m not fully sure how they differ. I’ve heard knotless braids are lighter and less painful, but I’d like to understand the real differences in technique, look, and maintenance before choosing a style.

The main difference is how the braid starts. Box braids usually begin with a small knot at the root, whereas knotless braids feed the extension hair in gradually, so there’s no knot. This is why knotless braids tend to feel lighter, look more natural at the scalp.
