Are you wondering, "What are closure wigs?" Well, you've come to the right place. With many different types of wigs on the market, it can be difficult to know which one is right for you. One popular type is the closure wig. In this post, we'll explore what closure wigs are and how to style them. What Are Closure Wigs?
Closure wigs allow you to style your hair with a natural parting. There are three different types available:
- 3-part closure wig - You can part your hair in the middle, left, or right.
- Middle part closure wig - You can only do a middle part.
- Free part closure wig - You can part your hair wherever you like.
Closure Wig Sizes
Closure wigs come in three different sizes:
- 4x4 closure
- 5x5 closure
- 6x6 closure
The different sizes are designed to cover varying amounts of hair, with 4x4 being the smallest and 6x6 the largest. It's important to choose the correct size that fits your head best to ensure a smooth and natural finish.
Closure Wig Types
Closure wigs can come in two types: lace based and silk based.
Silk based closure wig
Silk-based closures are made from medium brown-coloured silk designed to resemble your scalp, providing a natural-looking finish. Some tweaking of the silk's colour may be required to match your scalp exactly, which can easily be done with makeup. However, a disadvantage of silk-based closures is that the thick silk base must be installed carefully to avoid bumps and ensure it lies flat against the scalp.
Lace based closure wig
Lace-based closures are thinner and more flexible, allowing them to lay flat against the scalp more seamlessly than silk-based closures. They also allow your natural hair to breathe more easily. However, a downside is that the lace base is more likely to trap hair products.
Difference Between Lace Closure Wig and Lace Frontal Wig
The main difference between a frontal and a closure is the hairline. Lace closures have a small piece of lace on the crown of the wig cap, whereas lace frontals have a piece of lace from ear to ear. Additionally, frontal wigs offer many more styling options than closure wigs. Unlike closure wigs, you can tie your hair up into ponytails and many other styles.
Closure Wig Styles
When it comes to styling closure wigs, there are some limitations. You won't be able to do styles that pull your hair up, such as high ponytails, high buns, and updos, as it will expose the wefts and edges on the sides. Half-up, half-down styles are possible; however, you may need to practise and strategically place hair to ensure the wefts aren't shown.
